The International Conference on Optical Fibre Sensors–OFS–is acknowledged as the world’s leading conference on all topics related to photonic sensing technologies. OFS provides a vibrant forum for reporting the latest advances in fibre-optic and photonic sensing technologies and related devices, as well as it has fostered the exchange of knowledge and ideas within the research and industrial communities. The conference series is held every eighteen months, in rotation between America, Europe and Asia/Oceania.
After 23 editions the twenty-fourth OFS conference, OFS24, arrives for the first time to South America and Brazil. It will be held from Monday 28 September to Friday 2 October 2015 in Curitiba (Paraná) one of the most developed and enjoyable cities in Brazil.
OFS24 will offer invited talks, tutorials and contributed paper presentations both in oral and poster sessions, workshops, and an exhibition of commercial products, as well as social and cultural events.
You are welcome to join us in Curitiba!
The OFS-24 Logo
OFS-24 logo was created by Excelência Comunicação, inspired by the design of the “Museu Oscar Niemeyer” (Oscar Niemeyer Museum). The building was originally designed by Niemeyer – the great Brazilian architect – in 1967 to serve as a high school. When the main building was finished, 1978, its use was changed and several State Secretaries occupied it. By that time it presented the longest span in a building using prestressed concrete.
In 2001 the building was destined to the Museum of Visual Arts and an annex was incorporated. The annex, designed by Niemeyer, is popularly known as The Eye (O Olho).
Oscar Niemeyer (1907 – 2012) became recognized as an innovative architect by its design of the Pampulha Complex (Cassino, Dance Hall & St. Francis Church) in Belo Horizonte, built 1942-1944. During the ‘950’s gained international attraction and was responsible for impressive landmarks designed for the new capital of Brazil, Brasilia. He designed structures around the World like the United Nations Complex, the building of the Communist Party, Paris, Alger’s Mosque, Le Havre Cultural Centre, among others.
